Notes on my D-Day Tour to England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany German Cemetery at La Cambe
Background American Heritage magazine sponsored a World War II Commemorative Tour on the D-Day landings in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge in the fall of 2000 conducted by Historic Tours/Tour Center (http://www.ww2tours.com/) These are my notes from my participation in this trip in Normandy which was quite special. The most unusual aspect was having the chance to interact with locals who had been there at the time of the D Day landings. Our tour directors have many contacts, and we were fêted in several places by the French honoring our veterans. Following are my notes on this trip with links to a variety of related sites on the web. Also, if you would like to see some tour diaries as written by Christie and Ray Pfeiffer read their accounts. We started our tour in London where the invasion was planned. |
